Revenue loss tops $1 billion as Iraq slows exports under UN's oil-for-food scheme
16 January – Iraqi oil exports under the United Nations' oil-for-food programme continue to register below average figures, resulting in a loss of $1 billion in revenue during the month of December and an additional estimated loss of $380 million in the first 10 days of January, according to the latest figures issued today by the UN Office of the Iraq Programme, which administers the scheme.

Iraq exported approximately 18 million barrels of crude oil in December-some 50 million barrels less than expected-while during the first 10 days of January, the exports were 22 million barrels below those anticipated, the Office said.

Through three loadings at Mina al-Bakr, Iraq exported 4.7 million barrels of oil from 6-12 January, raising an estimated 98 million euros in revenue. No oil loadings were carried out at the Ceyhan terminal this month, while only a single loading took place there in the month of December.

The total amount of oil exported by Iraq in the programme's current phase (IX) totals 22.4 million barrels for an estimated 464 million euros.
