ACCELERATED DEVELOPMENT OF ARROW MISSILE APPROVED

Defense Minister Yitzhak Mordechai this week approved the accelerated development of the Arrow anti-missile missile in response to the increased threat of surface-to-surface missiles from Syria and Iran, YEDIOT AHARONOT reported.

The new plan is designed to allow the Israel Air Force to install an operational Arrow battery during the year 2000.

The sixth test of the functional Arrow missile is expected to take place in the near future. The test will be the first to feature a launch at a real target, using all of the battery systems.
