KUWAIT EXPRESSES UNRESERVED SUPPORT AND SOLIDARITY WITH PAKISTAN IN THE WAKE OF NUCLEAR TESTS BY INDIA.

NEWS IN DETAIL:

PAKISTAN SUCCESSFULLY REBUFFED INDIAN CONNECTION THAT JAMMU AND KASHMIR WAS AN INTEGRAL PART OF INDIA, DURING DELIBERATIONS AT THE NON-ALIGNED MINISTERIAL MEETING IN CARTEGENA, COLOMBIA.

USING HIS RIGHT OF REPLY THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS MR. MOHAMMAD SIDDIQUE KHAN KANJU CATEGORICALLY REFUTED THE STATEMENT OF THE MINISTER FROM INDIA TO THE EFFECT THAT JAMMU AND KASHMIR IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF INDIA.

MR. KANJU SAID INDIAN MINISTER'S STATEMENT IS UNCOVERED AS KASHMIR IS A DISPUTED TERRITORY RECOGNISED BY THE U.N. OF WHICH ALL OF US ARE MEMBERS. THE MINISTER OF STATED APPRISED HIS COUNTERPARTS THE DETAILS OF SECURITY SITUATION THAT HAS ARISEN IN SOUTH ASIA DUE TO THE NUCLEAR EXPLOSIONS CONDUCTED BY INDIA.

THE MINISTER HIGHLIGHTED THE FACT THAT PAKISTAN WAS WEIGHING ALL ITS OPTIONS IN A MATURE AND RESPONSIBLE MANNER AND THAT ANY DECISION THAT THE GOVERNMENT WOULD TAKE IN THIS REGARD WOULD BE DETERMINED IN HE CONTEXT OF ITS OWN NATIONAL SECURITY AND SOVEREIGN INTEGRITY.

PAKISTAN HAS INFORMED THE DISARMAMENT CONFERENCE IN GENEVA THAT THE TESTS, POLICY DECLARATION AND NOW THREATS BY INDIA HAVE CREATED SITUATION OF GRAVE CRISIS IN THE REGION.

IN A STATEMENT BEFORE THE CONFERENCE PAKISTAN'S PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE IN GENEVA AMBASSADOR MUNIR AKRAM DREW THE WORLD ATTENTION TOWARDS FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS THAT HAS TAKEN PLACE FOLLOWING INDIA'S FIVE NUCLEAR WEAPON TESTS LAST WEEK.

IN THIS CONTEXT MR. MUNIR AKRAM ALSO DREW THE ATTENTION TO THE SERIES OF THREATENING STATEMENTS FROM THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF INDIAN LEADERSHIP IN THE ISSUE.

HE ALSO REFERRED TO THE LETTER ADDRESSED BY THE PRIME MINISTER MR.MOHAMMAD NAWAZ SHARIF TO GROUP OF EIGHT WHO MET IN LONDON WHICH HE READ OUT AND REQUESTED THE SECRETARIAT TO CIRCULATE IT AN OFFICIAL DOCUMENT.

THE PRIME MINISTER SAID THE KHIDMAT COMMITTEES HAVE BEEN FORMED TO ERADICATE INJUSTICES AND CRUELTY FORM THE SOCIETY AND ALSO TO BRING AN END IMMORAL, INHUMAN AND ILLEGAL BUSINESS PRACTICES. HE SAID THE PLUNDERING OF COUNTRY'S RESOURCES AND NATIONAL WEALTH CANNOT BE PERMITTED.

THE PRIME MINISTER SAID THAT THE GOVERNMENT WILL TAKE ALL POSSIBLE STEPS TO END WATER THEFT, IMMORAL BUSINESSES, INJUSTICES AND MIS-APPROPRIATION OF DEVELOPMENT FUNDS. MR. MOHAMMAD NAWAZ SHARIF EMPHASISED THAT THE GOVERNMENT WISHES TO SET UP KHIDMAT COMMITTEES AT THE THANA LEVEL SO AS TO SOLVE THE PEOPLE'S PROBLEMS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. HE CALLED UPON THE MEMBERS OF KHIDMAT COMMITTEES TO CONTINUE THEIR WORK AS HAQOOQ ALLAH AND HAQOOQ-UL=EBAD. THE PRIME MINISTER WARNED THE MEMBERS OF KHIDMAT COMMITTEES THAT IF THERE WERE ANY COMPLAINT AGAINST THEM THEY WILL NOT ONLY BE REMOVED FROM THE MEMBERSHIP BUT ALSO SEVERE ACTION WILL BE TAKEN. EARLIER CHAIRMAN, DIVISIONAL KHIDMAT COMMITTEE MIRPUR KHAS NOOR MOHAMMAD SHAH JILANI, AND CHAIRMAN DISTRICT KHIDMAT COMMITTEE THARPARKAR BHEROO LAL PRESENTED REPORTS OF THEIR RESPECTIVE COMMITTEES. EARLIER IMMEDIATELY AFTER HIS ARRIVAL IN MIRPUR KHAN THE PRIME MINISTER VISITED THE WATER SUPPLY SCHEME AND CIVIL HOSPITAL. HE ISSUED IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION ORDERS OF THE STAFF RESPONSIBLE FOR THE UNSATISFACTORY WORKING OF THE WATER SUPPLY SCHEME. THE PRIME MINISTER ALSO EXPRESSED DIS-SATISFACTION OVER THE WORKING OF MIRPUR KHAN CIVIL HOSPITAL..

KUWAIT HAS EXPRESSED UNRESERVED SUPPORT AND SOLIDARITY WITH THE GOVERNMENT AND PEOPLE OF PAKISTAN. THE SUPPORT WAS CONVEYED BY THE SPECIAL ENVOY OF AMIR OF KUWAIT SHAIKH JABBAR AL-AHMAD AL-SABAH, MR ABDUL REHMAN AL-ATIQI WHO CALLED ON THE PRIME MINISTER MR.MOHAMMMAD NAWAZ SHARIF IN ISLAMABAD TODAY. MR. ABDUL REHMAN ATIQI ALSO DELIVERED A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM THE AMIR OF KUWAIT TO THE PRIME MINISTER. THE MESSAGE FOCUSED ON THE CHANGES IN THE SECURITY ENVIRONMENT OF THE REGION TRIGGERED BY THE INDIAN NUCLEAR TESTS.

THE PRIME MINISTER SAID THE INDIAN NUCLEAR TESTS HAD ALTERED THE REGIONAL SCENARIO AND POSED SERIOUS THREAT TO PAKISTAN'S SECURITY. HOWEVER WE WOULD TAKE NO HASTY DECISION. OUR SECURITY WAS OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE AND WE SHALL BE GUIDED BY THE SUPREME NATIONAL INTEREST OF PAKISTAN.

THE PRIME MINISTER APPRECIATED THE GESTURE OF AMIR OF KUWAIT OF SENDING HIS SPECIAL ENVOY TO PAKISTAN. MR. ABDUL REHMAN ATIQI LEFT FOR KUWAIT AFTER HIS MEETING WITH THE PRIME MINISTER.

THE CHAIRMAN OF THE ALL PARTIES HURRIYAT CONFERENCE, SYED ALI GILANI URGED THE WOULD COMMUNITY TO PLAY ITS DUE ROLE FOR EARLY SOLUTION OF THE KASHMIR ISSUE. THE FORMER APHC CHAIRMAN, MIRWAIZ UMAR FAROOQ SAID THAT THE LIBERATION MOVEMENT OF THE PEOPLE OF KASHMIR SYMBOLISED THEIR ASPIRATIONS INVOLVING THE RIGHT OF SELF-DETERMINATION ENSHRINED IN THE U.N. RESOLUTION. IN THE COUNTRY BLOODSHED OF INNOCENT KASHMIRIS BY INDIAN TROOPS. THE DEAD BODIES OF TWO KASHMIRI YOUTH, MUHAMMAD AMIN AND NAZIR AHMAD WERE FOUND RESPECTIVELY IN KOKERNAG AND UDHAMPUR, TWO INNOCENT PERSONS WERE KILLED BY INDIAN FORCES IN LOLAB IN KUPWARA. THE RESIDENTS OF KUPWARA HELD DEMONSTRATION AS A PROTEST AGAINST THE HEINOUS ACT OF THE FORCES. IN SIRANKOT IN RAJOURI, THE MUJAHIDEEN KILLED THREE SOLDIERS IN A CLOSE BATTLE. THE MUJAHIDEEN WERE ALSO MARTYRED.

AN AMENDMENT HAS BEEN MOVED IN THE U.S. CONGRESS TO STRIP INDIA OF ITS MOST FAVOURED NATION STATUS IN TEXTILES IN VIEW OF ITS NUCLEAR TESTS. THE AMENDMENT HAS BEEN PROPOSED IN THE DEFENCE AUTHORISATION BILL. IF ADOPTED IT WILL EFFECT INDIAN TEXTILES AND FIBRE EXPORTS TO UNITED STATES WHICH CURRENTLY STANDS AT ONE POINT EIGHT BILLION DOLLARS ANNUALLY.
