[FBIS Transcribed Text] Moscow April 14 TASS -- Russia has
pledged to sell an air-defence and anti-missile complex C-300 to
the United States, head of the press centre of the state
committee "Rosvooruzheniye" Valeriy Pogrebenkov told ITAR-TASS
today. The terms of the deal are still being discussed. The
results of the talks are expected to be announced next week,
Pogrebenkov said.
According to estimates made by foreign experts the complex
C-300 is considered to be a mobile multi-channel missile
launching system designed by the "Almaz" scientific-industrial
association. The air- defence complex is intended for shooting
down modern aircraft, including the so-called "invisible
aircraft", cruise missiles and other combat aircraft at
altitudes ranging from 25 meters to the top range in which they
operate. The C-300 complex can be used under any weather
conditions and in different climatic areas.
