Submarine Successfully Launches ICBM in Barents Sea 3 Oct

Murmansk, 4 Oct (ITAR-TASS) -- Within the framework of the command-staff exercises of the Russian Armed Forces' Strategic Nuclear Forces, on Thursday an intercontinental ballistic missile was launched from on board a nuclear submarine of the Northern Fleet in the Barents Sea. The missile landed precisely on target in the specified area of the Russian Far East. Admiral Oleg Yerofeyev, commander of the Northern Fleet, told the ITAR-TASS correspondent today that a detachment of British naval vessels was present near the test range where the ballistic missile was launched. The commander said that "the British seamen who were observing this combat operation, carried out by men of the Northern Fleet, were the first to congratulate them on their success."
