MOSCOW CRITICIZES U.S. AGAIN ON NMD. On the 40th anniversary
of the Soviet Union's successful anti-missile test on 4 March
1961, Russian officials criticized the U.S. for thinking that
it could set up a national missile defense (NMD) system
beyond the capacity of Russia to counter, Reuters reported.
Meanwhile, on 2 March, the Russian Foreign Ministry called on
the U.S. to ratify the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty
(CNTBT) that both Moscow and Washington have observed since
1996 but which the U.S. has not ratified, ITAR-TASS reported.
