• CLINTON STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS January 19, 1999 -- President Clinton outlined a broad range of foreign policy objectives in his January 19 State of the Union address -- from expanding trade and creating a new global financial system to combating terrorist threats, pursuing nuclear disarmament and Middle East peace efforts, supporting the United Nations and NATO and strengthening economic ties with Central America and Africa.
• TRANSCRIPT: BERGER OUTLINES U.S. NON-PROLIFERATION POLICY USIA 12 January 1999 -- Stressing that the United States "will not shrink from the fight against weapons of mass destruction," National Security Adviser Samuel R. Berger says the Clinton administration is committed to making 1999 "a year of progress and achievement" on three fronts: strengthening the non-proliferation regime, addressing regional threats, and bolstering defenses.
