- 12-22-03 (subscription may be required) The Albuquerque Journal reports that the last W79 nuclear artillery shell was dismantled at Pantex Plant. NNSA director Linton Brooks commented, "Eliminating the last nuclear artillery warhead marks the end of an era in U.S. defense policy that included ground-launched battlefield nuclear weapons."
