Cunningham, Mary Kate
Biography
Mary Kate Cunningham joined FAS in January of 2012 as the special advisor to the president. Prior to FAS, she worked for the House Armed Services Committee in the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee. In this role, she edited the Seapower Subcommittee Markup for the National Defense Authorization Act, conducted research on Pakistan and electronic warfare, managed hearings and briefings, and had oversight responsibilities for House and Senate funding tables.
Previously Cunningham worked in the Communications Office for the House Armed Services Committee as a press assistant. In that capacity she developed social media strategy and drafted press releases for Chairman Skelton.
Cunningham will graduate in January 2012 with her Masters in Strategic Security Studies from the National Defense University. She received her Bachelor’s degree from The Catholic University of America where she studied political science and philosophy.
