Biography

Neal A. Pollard is a director at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he focuses on U.S. and international cyber security policy.

He has more than fifteen years of experience in law, policy, strategy, planning, interagency coordination, operations, and technology development for counterterrorism, cyber security, homeland security, and countering weapons of mass destruction (WMD), and has served as a manager and line officer in government, industry, and academia.  

Pollard is Adjunct Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at Georgetown University Medical Center, where he teaches graduate courses in homeland security for the Biohazardous Threat Agents and Emerging Infectious Disease program.  He is also a senior associate of the Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.  In 2008 he was detailed as director for Counterterrorism to the staff of the Commission on the Prevention of WMD Proliferation and Terrorism (Graham-Talent Commission).  

Before government service, he was vice president of Hicks & Associates, and Board Director and General Counsel of the Terrorism Research Center, Inc., a corporation he founded in 1996.    

Pollard is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, where he was also an International Affairs Fellow (2005-2006) focused on cyber terrorism, and he is admitted to the Virginia Bar.

Pollard is author of the forthcoming book Strategic Cyber Security: a Primer for Policymakers in an Age of Anxiety (Congressional Quarterly Press, summer 2012).
