Schroeder, Matt

Biography
Matthew Schroeder is the director of the Arms Sales Monitoring Project at the Federation of American Scientists (FAS). Since joining FAS in February 2002, he has researched and written on U.S. arms transfers, arms export policies, and the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons.
He is the author of The Small Arms Trade (London: Oneworld Publications, 2007) and has written chapters for the SIPRI Yearbook and the Small Arms Survey’s annual Yearbook. Articles he has written have appeared in the Arms Control Today, Baltimore Sun, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, Defense News, Disarmament Forum and Jane’s Intelligence Review.
From 2002 to 2003, Matt served as chair of the Arms Transfers Working Group, an alliance of arms control, human rights and religious groups based in Washington, DC.
Before coming to the FAS, Matt earned a master's degree in international security policy from Columbia University and a bachelor's degree in history from Wittenberg University.
