“Initial” LOD will be most useful for:
- Augmentation and replenishment
- Constellation management of:
- Systems with expensive spares
- Systems where store on orbit is impractical
LOD may become critical if:
- Traditional deployments are impracticable
- Traditional terrestrial missions migrate to space
- Space “Force in being” is reduced
Utility of spacelift for “responsive transportation” is TBD
