Basis of Issue Plan - BOIP

A. DESCRIPTION: THE PATRIOT RADAR SET CONSISTS OF A MULTIFUNCTIONAL, PHASED-ARRAY RADAR MOUNTED ON XM860 SEMITRAILER. THE RADAR HAS IFF EQUIPMENT (LIN J99167, BOIP 770209) AND DECOY CONTROL INTERFACE EQUIPMENT (LIN Z05516, BOIP 790074). B. CAPABILITIES: THE RADAR WILL PROVIDE THE PATRIOT ECS WITH TARGET DETECTION, TARGET IDENTIFICATION, AND TARGET AND MISSILE TRACK DATA, AS WELL AS MISSILE GUIDANCE TO IN-FLIGHT MISSILES. C. EMPLOYMENT: THE RADAR WILL BE CONTROLLED AND MONITORED BY THE ENGAGEMENT CONTROL STATION (ECS) (LIN E08497, BOIP 770206). D. BASIS OF ISSUE: ONE RADAR WILL BE REQUIRED BY EACH PATRIOT FIRE UNIT. E. POWER REQUIREMENTS: PRIMARY POWER WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE ELECTRIC POWER PLANT (LIN P42114, BOIP 790073). F. TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS: WILL BE TOWED BY A 10-TON TRACTOR (LIN T88677), AND WILL REQUIRE A 100-AMP ALTERNATOR KIT TO PROVIDE DC POWER FOR OUTRIGGER LEGS MOVEMENT AND LEVELING. G. PERSONNEL/MAINTENANCE IMPACTS: (1) OPERATOR: (A) CREW SIZE/MOS: FOUR CREW MEMBERS NORMALLY EMPLACE AND MARCH ORDER THE RADAR SET. THE RADAR WILL BE UNMANNED DURING OPERATION. CREWMAN WILL BE MOS 16T. (B) TRAINING REQUIREMENTS (MOS/GENERAL): PATRIOT MISSILE SYSTEM CREW MEMBER, MOS 16T WILL BE TRAINED IN ENGAGEMENT CONTROL AND MISSILE LAUNCHING DUTIES, AND TRAINED AS HEMMT VEHICLE OPERATOR. (2) MAINTAINERS: (A) UNIT MAINTENANCE: WARRANT OFFICER MOS 140E, ENLISTED MOS 24T AND 63S. (B) IDS MAINTENANCE: MOS 29E AND 63W. (C) IGS MAINTENANCE: MOS 24T WITH ASI T5, AND 63W. H.
