A. DESCRIPTION: THE PATRIOT BATTALION TACTICAL OPERATIONS CENTER (BTOC) IS AN AUTOMATED COMMAND POST IN A 5 TON EXPANSIBLE VAN. BTOC COMPONENTS INCLUDE A MODIFIED M934 5 TON EXPANSIBLE VAN (LIN X62237), TWO COMPUTER WORKSTATIONS (PROCESSOR, MONITOR, KEYBOARD, MOUSE), ELECTRONIC DATA STORAGE, COMMUNICATIONS PROCESSOR, POWER SUPPLIES, DOT MATRIX PRINTER, INK-JET PRINTER, COMMANDERS TACTICAL TERMINAL/ HYBRID-RECEIVER (CTT/H-R) AND ASSOCIATED PERIPHERALS, ENCRYPTION DEVICES, MODEMS, MAPBOARDS, CHAIRS, RIFLE RACK, CONFERENCE TABLE, WORK TABLES, PHONE JACKS, SAFE, RADIO RACK, STORAGE AREAS, AND CABLING. LENGTH: 362.6" (TRUCK VAN). WIDTH: 98.0" (TRUCK VAN, EXCLUDING MIRRORS). HEIGHT: 142.3" (TRUCK VAN). WEIGHT: APPROXIMATELY 30,000 LB. (TRUCK VAN PLUS ON VEHICLE EQUIPMENT). CUBE: 2,925 CUBIC FEET (TRUCK VAN). B. CAPABILITIES: THE BTOC PROVIDES PATRIOT BATTALION S2/S3 SECTIONS AN AUTOMATED SOFTWARE-BASED COMMAND POST SYSTEM CAPABLE OF PERFORMING TACTICAL PLANNING AND AIR PICTURE SITUATIONAL AWARENESS. BTOC MONITORS CAN DISPLAY AN AIR PICTURE RECEIVED VIA CABLE FROM THE PATRIOT INFORMATION AND COORDINATION CENTRAL (ICC). BTOC TACTICAL PLANNING SOFTWARE UTILIZES DEFENSE MAPPING AGENCY (DMA) RASTER MAPS FROM CD ROM FOR USE IN SITE SELECTION, AUTOMATIC COMPUTATION OF RADAR COVERAGE FOR DEFENSE ANALYSIS, COMMUNICATIONS PLANNING TACTICAL OVERLAYS, AND AIR TRACK DISPLAY. THE BTOC PROVIDES AIR TRACK DATA RECORDING, PLAYBACK, AND DUPLICATION CAPABILITIES. THE BTOC RECEIVES AND DISPLAYS TACTICAL INTELLIGENCE BROADCAST SYSTEM (TIBS) DATA WHICH IT PROVIDES VIA CABLE TO THE ICC. THE BTOC PROCESSES AND SENDS OPERATIONAL SEARCH LOWER BOUND (OSLB) AND AIRSPACE CONTROL (ACO) DATA TO THE ICC AND PRODUCES AUTOMATIC S2 AND S3 REPORTS FOR THEIR RESPECTIVE FUNCTIONS. THE BTOC IS DESIGNED TO ENHANCE SLOW, MANUAL OPERATIONS WHICH OTHERWISE REQUIRE GREASE PENCILS AND ACETATE COVERED MAPS. C. EMPLOYMENT: THE BTOC PROVIDES A MOBILE SHELTER THAT IS EQUIPPED WITH STATE-OF-THE-ART ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT TO ENABLE TACTICAL PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES AT THE PATRIOT BATTALION STAFF LEVEL AT CORPS AND EAC. THE BTOC IS POSITIONED IN THE VICINITY OF THE ICC TO ALLOW FOR DIRECT CABLE CONNECTION. D. BASIS OF ISSUE: ONE PER PATRIOT BATTALION S2/S3 SECTION E. POWER REQUIREMENTS: ONE PU803, 3 PHASE, 60 HZ, 30 KW POWER UNIT. F. TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS: TRANSPORTATION FOR THE BTOC IS PROVIDED BY ITS COMPONENT M934 5 TON EXPANSIBLE VAN (LIN X62237). THE BTOC IS AIR TRANSPORTABLE ON A C5. G. PERSONNEL/MAINTENANCE IMPACTS: (1) OPERATOR: TWO 16T, PATRIOT MISSILE CREWMEMBERS, ARE REQUIRED TO OPERATE THE BTOC. (2) MAINTAINERS: UL - 24T, 63B DS/GS - 63W H. SPECIAL NOTES: (1) THE BTOC UTILIZES ARMY TACTICAL COMMAND AND CONTROL SYSTEM (ATCCS) COMMON HARDWARE/SOFTWARE (CHS) COMPUTERS FOR WORKSTATIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS PROCESSOR. INDIVIDUAL CHS COMPONENT ITEMS ARE CLASSIFIED AS CLASS IX REPAIR PARTS. (2) THE BTOC CONTAINS OTHER NON-DEVELOPMENTAL ITEM (NDI) COMMERCIAL OFF-THE-SHELF (COTS) COMPONENTS SUCH AS COLOR INK JET PRINTER, POWER SUPPLIES, TAPE DRIVE, AND MODEM WHICH ARE NOT AVAILABLE AS CHS ITEMS. (3) THE CTT/H-R, TWO CHANNEL VERSION, IS A NON TYPE CLASSIFIED CLASS IX ITEM DEVELOPED BY THE AIR FORCE AND MANAGED FOR THE ARMY BY PM CTT. IT IS CURRENTLY SUPPORTED THROUGH AIR FORCE CHANNELS BY CONTRACTOR FACTORY REPAIR. (4) ASIOE ITEMS C82494, S01373, AND V98788 ARE ADDITIONS TO CURRENT TOE AND WILL BE PROVIDED BY MATDEV. DATA INTERCHANGE WILL NOT BE REQUIRED. THE ABOVE VINSEN ITEMS ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE SECURE OPERATIONS OF THE AIR FORCE UHF RADIO AN/ARC-187. (5) BTOC GENERIC NOMENCLATURE HAS NOT BEEN FORMALLY ASSIGNED AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE. (6) THE USAADASCH REQUIRES ONE BTOC FOR EMPLACEMENT TRAINING AND FOUR SETS IN A NON-VEHICLE CONFIGURATION FOR CLASSROOM TRAINING. (7) THIS ITEM IS SUITABLE FOR PUBLICATION IN AR 71-13.
