Barbara Pyle, a renowned pioneer of environmental television programming, served as Corporate Vice President of Environmental Policy for the Turner Broadcasting System and CNN's Environment Editor.

Throughout her extensive career as an executive producer and director, Barbara co-created the popular 113-episode animated series, Captain Planet and the Planeteers. Additionally, she produced 55 films covering a range of global issues, which have garnered almost 200 industry awards and many Emmy nominations. Her 35-part television series People Count focuses on remarkable individuals leading the way to create a better world.

In 1997, Barbara received the world's most prestigious environmental honor, the United Nations Environment Programme’s Sasakawa Prize. She used  the proceeds to establish the Barbara Pyle Foundation.

Barbara also founded and directed the Captain Planet Foundation, which provides grants for hands-on environmental projects by children.  Currently, she serves as a Board member and as the Co-Chair of the Media and Communications Committee. She sits on many non profit Boards and Advisory committees.

Barbara's 1975 photographs of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, taken in New Orleans during the Born to Run Tour, are on display at SNAP Galleries in London and she is in negotiations for a coffee table book. Her America’s Cup photography can be found at

Now, Barbara is working with young professionals around the world to build a Global Network of Planeteers. Inspired as children by the Captain Planet and the Planeteers, the adult Planeteer’s have built a website  ( ) in honor of the Captain Planet 20th Anniversary.  Their vision is to Engage Millennial Planeteers in environmental activity by building on Captain Planet and the Planeteers’  generational impact.
