A. DESCRIPTION: THE M9 ACE IS A HIGHLY MOBILE, ARMORED, AMPHIBIOUS COMBAT EARTHMOVER CAPABLE OF PERFORMING DOZING, SCRAPING, ROUGH GRADING, TOWING, AND LIMITED HAULING. B. CAPABILITIES: THE M9 FULFILLS A MORE MOBILE ROLE. ITS TRAVEL SPEED OF 30 MPH ALLOWS IT TO MAINTAIN CONVOY SPEED. IT TRAVELS TO WORKSITES WITH NO ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT, AND HAS A 3 MPH SWIM CAPABILITY, A SMOKE OBSCURATION CAPABILITY, NBC PROTECTION, AND HALON SUPPRESSION SYSTEM. C. EMPLOYMENT: THE M9 IS PRIMARILY A DEFENSE WEAPON SYSTEM WHICH WILL BE EMPLOYED BY DIVISIONAL AND NONDIVISIONAL COMBAT ENGINEERS. IT IS CAPABLE OF PERFORMING MOBILITY, COUNTERMOBILITY AND SURVIVABILITY TASKS. D. BASIS OF ISSUE: (1) SIX PER SEPARATE ENGINEER COMPANIES 2ND ACR, ACR AND HVY SEP BDE. (2) FOUR PER ENGINEER SEPARATE INFANTRY BRIGADE COMPANY. (3) SIX PER ENGINEER COMPANY, CORP MECH BATTALION. (4) SEVEN PER ENGINEER COMPANY, HVY DIVISION. E. POWER REQUIREMENTS: POWERED BY THE ONBOARD 24-VOLT POWER SYSTEM. F. TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS: AIR TRANSPORTABLE IN C-130, C-141, AND C-5A AIRCRAFT. G. PERSONNEL/MAINTENANCE IMPACTS: (1) OPERATOR: (A) CREW SIZE/MOS: ONE MOS 12F OPERATOR PER VEHICLE. (B) TRAINING REQUIREMENTS (MOS/GENERAL): INCLUDED IN BASIC MOS COURSE WITH UNIT REINFORCEMENT TRAINING. (2) MAINTAINERS: (A) UNIT MAINTENANCE: MOS 62B. (B) DS MAINTENANCE: 62B (44B, 44E & 63G - ASSIGNED BY POSITION ONLY) (C) GS MAINTENANCE: 62B, 63H (44B, 44E & 63G - ASSIGNED BY POSITION ONLY) H.
